Los Miradores del Puerto, La Manga, Spain |

Pool There is an outdoor pool open 1st March to 31st November, and soft tennis court. The property is wheelchair accessible and has a lift. Ample free parking is available.
Beaches There are several excellent beaches within a few minutes walking distance. The Mar Menor beach can be reached by turning left out of the entrance. Walk a few hundred yards and you will find a beach hut serving drinks and ice-creams next to the beach. Because the Mar Menor is shallow (max 21 feet deep) it is usually warmer and calmer than the Med and an ideal place for snorkeling. You can indulge in your own mud therapy for free on the beach where you can scoop mud from the sea and cover yourself from head to toe!
If you cross the road and walk over about 80 yards of sand dunes you will find a long Mediterranean beach.

Access La Manga is easily accessible from Murcia Airport (40 minutes drive) and Alicante Airport (90 minutes drive). Taxis and car hire are available at both airports and airport transfers can be arranged.
It is not necessary to hire a car to enjoy a holiday here since we are just a couple of minutes walk from a well stocked supermarket (ideal for self-catering), coffee shops, bakery, several restaurants and bars. The Mar Menor and Med beaches are only a few minutes stroll away. Next to us you will find a 5 star luxury spa hotel where you can drop in for a cocktail at the bar, a meal in the panoramic top floor restaurant or a luxury spa treatment. The nearest bus stop is a few hundred yards from the apartment and buses run a regular circular route along the strip for only 1 euro. If you wish to go sightseeing or shopping in Cartagena or Murcia you can catch a bus from the strip. At the marina you will find a variety of excellent restaurants and bars, boat trips and the foot ferry. If you wish you can hire a cycle which will be delivered to your door.
Tomas Maestre marina Cabo de Palos Cartagena Santiago de la Ribera Murcia Calblanque Portman Guns San Pedro Salt Flats
The Tomas Maestre marina is a lovely place to take a stroll and stop at one of the cafes, bars or restaurants for a snack whilst you take in the view. From the marina you can take the foot ferry to Santiago de la Ribera or take a boat trip into the Med. From here you can also book a trip on a speedboat, hire jet-skis, charter a boat or take a diving trip.
There are small shopping centres along the length of La Manga strip where you will find shops, cafes and restaurants.
At the start of the strip is Cabo de Palos, a
popular area for diving. You can take a stroll
around the working marina and
along the promenade up to the lighthouse. The Sunday market offers a great variety of goods for sale,
from fresh fruit and vegetables to clothes, shoes, hand-crafted goods and gifts. The market receives visitors from many of the surrounding
areas, who then drift down to the harbour to take a snack, stay for lunch or
just stroll along the quayside.
At the end of the strip, called Veneziola, you will find salt flats, this is a popular area for bird watching.
All around the Mar Menor picturesque towns such as Los Belones, Los Alcázares and Santiago de la Ribera, with seafront promenades bordered by majestic palm trees, are great for a day trip. Each day of the week, a local street market is hosted in a different town. Santiago de la Ribera and Los Alcazares can be reached by tourist boats, and other towns by the local bus service.
Cartagena and Murcia are both well worth a visit to see their Roman monuments and for shopping. There are excellent guided walking tours of both cities.
There is a combined zoo and water park near Murcia and tours are available around the university aquarium.
Cartagena
is one of the oldest cities in Spain and is a cultural and historical gem.
The shopping in the historic centre is great.
You can take a trip on the tourist bus or take the tourist boat and sail around the harbour. Visit the museums or the roman amphitheatre or discover the city from a bird’s eye view via the panoramic lift which takes you to the Torres park (with resident peacocks). Why not try something different and take a segway tour of the city.
There is also a large shopping mall on the outskirts of Cartagena.
Calblanque
is one area of the Murcian coast that still preserves its natural riches. You
will find long golden beaches with arid hills, fossil dunes and an intensely
blue sea. Calblanque has been a regional park since 1987.
Access from the La Manga highway runs up to the discovery centre where maps are available showing recommended walking tours of one of the few remaining areas as yet untouched by man on the
Mediterranean coast of Spain. There are some lovely scenic costal walks up to Portman
Guns and around Calblanque.
The
Salt Flats of San Pedro Del Pinatar
form the most important wetlands in the region. This regional park is home to
many migratory birds including flamingos. Morphological formations such as salt
flats, salt marshes, reed beds, beaches and dunes can be seen in this park. More
info.
Tour the Sierra Minera(Mining Hills) dressed in yellow and green ochres under the silhouettes of the old wheelhouses. In the 19th century with the mining euphoria, the region lived an authentic gold fever. It was called the New California, such was the speed at which fortunes were won and lost. The promise of easy money brought everyone to these hills. Today this scenic area is dotted with old abandoned wheelhouses which add an air of mystery to the region.
Details of all these places to visit are provided in the apartment's comprehensive guest manual.
