Santiago de la Ribera

The foot ferry provides a regular service from the marina across the Mar Menor to the town of Santiago de la Ribera. The trip across the lake is very pleasant and takes half an hour, it costs about 4 euros. A market is held on Wednesdays and the Spanish equivalent of the Red Arrows practices here, so you will often see an impressive air display. 

There are excellent sandy beaches at Santiago and some interesting shops. It is relaxing to sit at one of the cafes on the front just watching the world go by or to have lunch in one of the fish restaurants on the beach.

Santiago de la Ribera has its fair share of fiestas and celebrations including the Three Kings (January), the festival of the Virgen del Carmen (July) and the huge Festival of Santiago (July). Santiago de la Ribera also holds the National Folk Festival.
