Camera Definition Files

System Requirements

Microsoft Flight Simulator X with Service Pack 2 or Acceleration Expansion Pack, or the Lockheed Martin Prepar3D simulator.
Windows 8/7/Vista/XP (32 or 64-bit version) operating system.
Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 (32-bit, 64-bit).
FSUIPC4 (freeware version) required if you intend to run the sim at increased simulation rates or use the CPFlight MCP737/EFIS device driver. FSUIPC is required on the client PCs if you are using Live View.
90 MB hard disk space.

Installation and Set Up

Ensure Microsoft .NET version 2, SimConnect and FSUIPC4 (if required) are installed on your server and optional client PCs.

Installing the Demo version of Opus

Click on the relevant Demo or Upgrade button and download the Opus msi file. Double click on the downloaded Opus msi file and follow the instructions to install the software into the standard OpusFSI (or OpusFSX) directory.

The Opus software must be installed using the Opus msi installation file on your designated main sim server system (your primary sim 'flying' computer) and each of your optional client sim systems. You may install the software onto any drive provided its folder name is OpusFSI (or OpusFSX) with the exception that you must not install Opus in the Opus Software, FSX, Prepar3D or Program Files folders, and don't install in more than one folder on your PC.

To install the software on your optional client systems, refer to The Opus Network section below.

Purchasing Opus

Click on the relevant Purchase button and download the Opus Flight1 Purchase exe file. You may get some warning messages from your virus checker at this point which is quite normal for this file type and as a result the installation window may be hidden behind your browser window.

If you have previously installed the Demo then uninstall it via Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, do not delete your OpusFSI (or OpusFSX) folder containing your camera and system configuration files.

You only need to unwrap the purchased 'exe' file on your designated server system. You will find the Opus msi installation file in your 'unwrapped' c:\Opus Software folder.

N.B. You need to keep your Flight1 license and key files on drive C in the C:\Opus Software folder, but can move the msi file to another drive.

The client systems are unlicensed and do not require license or key files. Do NOT unwrap the purchased 'exe' file on your client systems, it is not required. Neither do you need to create, or copy, the c:\Opus Software folder onto your client systems. This folder contains the license and key files which are ONLY needed on the server system.

Upgrading OpusFSX to OpusFSI

Click on the Upgrade OpusFSX to OpusFSI button and download (save) the OpusFSI Upgrade Purchase exe file. You may get some warning messages from your virus checker at this point which is quite normal for this file type and as a result the installation window may be hidden behind your browser window.

If you have previously installed the OpusFSI Demo then uninstall it via Control Panel, Uninstall a program. Do not delete your OpusFSX or OpusFSI folder containing your camera and system configuration files.

Run the OpusFSI_Upgrade_Purchase.exe file.

You will now find the OpusFSI.msi installation file in your 'unwrapped' C:\Opus Software folder. N.B. You need to keep your Flight1 key and licence files on drive C in the C:\Opus Software folder but can move the msi file to another drive.

Double click on the OpusFSI.msi file and follow the instructions to install the software into the OpusFSI directory. You may install the software onto any drive provided its folder name is OpusFSI with the exception that you must not install OpusFSI in the Opus Software, FSX or Program Files folders, and don't install in more than one folder on your PC.

Upgrading Opus

Release Upgrade

If you have previously purchased Opus and want to upgrade to the latest Release version then click on the relevant Upgrade button and download the Opus msi file. Uninstall the old software before installing the upgrade via Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, do not delete your OpusFSI (or OpusFSX) folder. Double click on the Opus msi file and follow the instructions to install the software upgrade.

All your original configuration (DAT and CMD) and camera definition (CAM, LIM and CDF) files will remain intact  in the OpusFSI (or OpusFSX) folder but it is a good idea to take a backup of your camera files anyway in case they get corrupted (this may happen when you revert to a previous version with a different CAM format).

To install the software on your optional client systems, refer to The Opus Network section below.

Beta Upgrade

Click on the Beta button and download the Opus Beta msi file.

Install as per the Release upgrade above (by uninstalling first).

The Opus Network

If you are going to set up a networked system you will need to install the simulator and scenery onto your client systems.

The Opus network is created by running the FSXSERVER program on the main (host) Flight Simulator PC, and running the FSXCLIENT program on each of the optional client PCs.

Installing the Opus Software on the Client PCs

If you wish you can copy the Opus msi installation file onto your optional client systems and double-click on the file to install the software, but you must uninstall the old software first via Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. Double click on the Opus msi file and follow the instructions to install the software.
Alternatively, you can simply create an OpusFSI (or OpusFSX) folder on each of your client PCs and simply copy the files and sub-folders across from the server's OpusFSI (or OpusFSX) folder. You only need to copy the DLL and EXE files across from the main folder, along with all sub-folders (e.g. the Themes sub-folder). Take care not to corrupt your DAT, CMD and camera files on the client PCs which contain your client's current configuration and operational data.

Each of your computers must be able to 'see' each other over the local area network. The Opus software will make efficient use of any speed of network without you configuring anything else other than the IP addresses, but the faster the network the better.

You can monitor the connection status on the main form display of the FSXSERVER program, and each of the FSXCLIENT programs. In each case, the Application Links will turn green when a connection is made. Note, the server will allocate two or three links for each Live View client, one link for each of the possible Live View Position & Attitude, and Live Weather connections.

To configure the system simply run the FSXSERVER and FSXCLIENT programs on their installed PCs (you don't need to run the sim for this purpose). Click on the Configure button on the main dialog (form) display and configure the appropriate options.

For the FSXSERVER program you must specify how many Live View client computers you will be using. You can also enable and specify the required options for the supported device drivers. Click OK when done and the server program will prepare all necessary communication links.

Repeat the exercise for each FSXCLIENT program. In this case you must specify the network identity (either the IP address or computer name) of the main server, that is, the PC running the FSXSERVER program. You can also specify other options to enable the various client features (e.g. Live Camera control). Click OK when finished and the client will prepare all communication links and attempt to connect to the networked FSXSERVER program.

Please refer to our Getting Started Single PC and Getting Started Networked PCs guides for further details.

Camera Definition Files

Camera definition files (CDFs) containing various camera views for an aircraft can be imported into Live Camera. Click on the links below to download the CDF file to a suitable location on your PC and click on the Import button within the Camera Control dialog.
Edit the camera views to create your key/button assignments for the views.Camera views with matching names and aircraft lists are updated using the imported view but your existing key/button assignments will be preserved.
